Wheel Truing Stand

A wheel truing stand is a specialized tool for straightening bicycle wheels. While individual models differ slightly, it consists of an axle stand on which the wheel can rotate and calipers, to measure slight deviations of the wheel's rim from ideal ("true") alignment. The stand is used in conjunction with an appropriately sized spoke wrench to loosen & tighten spokes that hold the rim in position.

Famous quotes containing the words wheel and/or stand:

Helpless, unknown, and unremembered, most human beings, however sensitive, idealistic, intelligent, go through life as passengers rather than chauffeurs. Although we may pretend that it is the chauffeur who is the social inferior ... most of us, like Toad of Toad Hall, would not mind a turn at the wheel ourselves.
    Ralph Harper (b. 1915)

There were times when I felt that I could bear no more. It was the Emergency Ward which almost broke me. I stood one night beside a man who had been caught in a flywheel, and whose body felt like jelly. I wanted him to die quickly, not to go on breathing. Oh, stop breathing. I can’t stand it. Die and stop suffering. I can’t stand it. I can’t.
