West Campus - Claflin Hall

Claflin Hall

Named after Lee Claflin, one of the founders of Boston University, Claflin Hall is the building farthest east of the three towers. There are 13 floors, many of which are coed (except for the third floor, which is an all-girls floor for students in the College of Communication). In 2010, Claflin Hall was the first dorm building in West Campus to receive renovations.

Claflin Hall is adjacent to the dining hall, but students must walk to retrieve their mailbox contents and to print in the Resnet computer labs, located in Rich Hall.

Famous quotes containing the words claflin and/or hall:

If in this wide world, teeming with abundant supplies for human want, to thousands of wretched creatures no choice is open, save between starvation and sin, may we not justly say that there is something utterly wrong in the system that permits such things to be?
    —Tennessee Claflin (1846–1923)

When Western people train the mind, the focus is generally on the left hemisphere of the cortex, which is the portion of the brain that is concerned with words and numbers. We enhance the logical, bounded, linear functions of the mind. In the East, exercises of this sort are for the purpose of getting in tune with the unconscious—to get rid of boundaries, not to create them.
    —Edward T. Hall (b. 1914)
