Early Career

Although an honor student, Knight left college when still one credit shy of a degree to pursue his acting career. He gained an internship at the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, Virginia, which produced repertory works year-round. After an internship, he joined the company and gained standing as an Equity actor, leaving to go to New York City. Two years later, he had his first role on Broadway.

Famous quotes containing the words early and/or career:

Some would find fault with the morning red, if they ever got up early enough.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

It is a great many years since at the outset of my career I had to think seriously what life had to offer that was worth having. I came to the conclusion that the chief good for me was freedom to learn, think, and say what I pleased, when I pleased. I have acted on that conviction... and though strongly, and perhaps wisely, warned that I should probably come to grief, I am entirely satisfied with the results of the line of action I have adopted.
    Thomas Henry Huxley (1825–95)
