War Child Offices

There are three independent offices of War Child: War Child Canada (1999), War Child Holland (1994) and War Child UK (1993). These offices share the same aims and goals, but work autonomously, with independent trustees and financial coordination. The War Child Holland office is the largest of the three, with more than €12,6 million euro in projects spent (2010), and a direct reach of more than 700,000 children. War Child UK is the second largest office with projects for €4,3 million (2010). War Child Canada has the smallest operational budget of €3,4 million euro (2009).

Famous quotes containing the words war, child and/or offices:

In health of mind and body, men should see with their own eyes, hear and speak without trumpets, walk on their feet, not on wheels, and work and war with their arms, not with engine-beams, nor rifles warranted to kill twenty men at a shot before you can see them.
    John Ruskin (1819–1900)

A child is born with the potential ability to learn Chinese or Swahili, play a kazoo, climb a tree, make a strudel or a birdhouse, take pleasure in finding the coordinates of a star. Genetic inheritance determines a child’s abilities and weaknesses. But those who raise a child call forth from that matrix the traits and talents they consider important.
    Emilie Buchwald (20th century)

If private men are obliged to perform the offices of government, to protect the weak and dispense justice, then the government becomes only a hired man, or clerk, to perform menial or indifferent services.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
