UWA Hardcore Wrestling

UWA Hardcore Wrestling was a Canadian independent professional wrestling promotion, which never revealed exactly what the initials UWA stood for throughout its active period. However Osiris (founder) later revealed in an Echoes Of The Ring blog post that the acronym UWA stood for Universal Wrestling Association, it took this name because Osiris believed that the promotion would become the biggest in the Universe. They operated out of Mississauga, Ontario. The UWA was run by Osiris and Joe E. Slick, and staged shows on a monthly basis at a series of venues. The promotion's final show took place on August 15, 2008 at the Bolton Fairgrounds. On February 6, 2012 Osiris launched his own personal project called, 'A Hero's Call'. 'A Hero's Call', has been called the 'complimentary piece' to the larger UWA project called 'Echoes Of The Ring'. To date the 'Echoes Of The Ring' project has been kept a secret. UWA re-launched an official splash page the official webpage of UWA with a new look.

Famous quotes containing the word wrestling:

There are people who think that wrestling is an ignoble sport. Wrestling is not sport, it is a spectacle, and it is no more ignoble to attend a wrestled performance of suffering than a performance of the sorrows of Arnolphe or Andromaque.
    Roland Barthes (1915–1980)
