Famous quotes containing the word principles:

Every political system is an accumulation of habits, customs, prejudices, and principles that have survived a long process of trial and error and of ceaseless response to changing circumstances. If the system works well on the whole, it is a lucky accident—the luckiest, indeed, that can befall a society.
    Edward C. Banfield (b. 1916)

It seems to me that man is made to act rather than to know: the principles of things escape our most persevering researches.
    Frederick The Great (1712–1786)

It is always easier to fight for one’s principles than to live up to them.
    Alfred Adler (1870–1937)
