See also: United States Senate election in Delaware, 2012Elections are held the first Tuesday after November 1. The Governor and State Treasurer take office the third Tuesday of January. The Governor has a four year term and the State Treasurer had a two year term at this time. U.S. Representatives take office January 3 and have a two year term. U.S. Senators also take office January 3, but have a six year term.
