Famous quotes containing the words expected, market and/or shift:

English life, while very pleasant, is rather bland. I expected kindness and gentility and I found it, but there is such a thing as too much couth.
    S.J. Perelman (1904–1979)

the Common Market or the smart cafés,
the boulevards in the graceful evening,
    the cliff-hangers, the scientists,
and the little shops raising their prices
    mean nothing to me.
    Anne Sexton (1928–1974)

“Circumstantial evidence is a very tricky thing,” answered Holmes thoughtfully. “It may seem to point very straight to one thing, but if you shift your own point of view a little, you may find it pointing in an equally uncompromising manner to something entirely different.”
    Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (1859–1930)
