ThinkPad

The ThinkPad line of laptop computers and tablets was originally designed, developed and sold by IBM but is now produced by Lenovo. ThinkPads are known for their boxy black design, which was modeled after a traditional Japanese Bento lunchbox. Lenovo purchased IBM's personal computer business and acquired the ThinkPad brand in 2005.

ThinkPads are popular with large businesses and schools. Older model ThinkPads are revered by technology enthusiasts, collectors and power users due to their durable design, relatively high resale value, and abundance of aftermarket replacement parts. Most ThinkPad models are known to work well with Linux, with a wiki dedicated to installing and configuring Linux distributions on ThinkPads. The ThinkPad has been used in space, and is the only laptop certified for use on the International Space Station.
