Sequel
On February 28, 2012, a sequel was announced to be in production, and is scheduled to be released in late 2014.
The sequel will be directed by Paul Tibbitt, written by Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, produced by Mary Parent, and executive-produced by the series' creator, Stephen Hillenburg. Tom Kenny, Bill Fagerbakke, Rodger Bumpass, Carolyn Lawrence, and Clancy Brown are set to reprise their roles. It has been confirmed that the sequel will have the same style of animation (traditional animation) as its TV counterpart. It has still been rumored that the sequel will be animated in CGI instead. On October 11, 2012, Paul Tibbitt has posted the sequel's logo concept on his Twitter.
