- Jim Broadbent as Peter Duffley (Peter Duff in the 1995 pilot), a lazy, inept bank Manager who somehow manages to stay in his job.
- Claire Skinner as Susan Harvey, the Assistant Manager who is dedicated to her job and seems to be the person actually running the branch.
- Daniel Flynn as David Edwards, the Area Manager.
- Stephen Moore as Geoffrey Parkes, the Chief Cashier who has little regard or time for Peter.
- David Schneider as Bradley Wilson, a tech-savvy but not very intelligent Junior Cashier who always obeys Peter out of a sense of fear.
- Janette Legge as Iris, the Secretary/Chief Clerk, who has no life outside the bank.

- Wendy Nottingham as Evelyn Walker, A cashier who suffers from bad nerves and spends almost as much time on the phone to the Samaritans (charity) as she spends doing her work duties. In Series 1 "Insecurity", a character of the same name and played by the same actress appeared as a charity worker.
