Famous quotes containing the word voices:

    We love to hear some men speak, though we hear not what they say; the very air they breathe is rich and perfumed, and the sound of their voices falls on the ear like the rustling of leaves or the crackling of the fire. They stand many deep.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    Two voices are there; one is of the Sea,
    One of the Mountains; each a mighty Voice:
    In both from age to age Thou didst rejoice,
    They were thy chosen Music, Liberty!
    William Wordsworth (1770–1850)

    The voices of that hearth are still;
    Look where we may, the wide earth o’er,
    Those lighted faces smile no more.
    John Greenleaf Whittier (1807–1892)
