Famous quotes containing the words demigod and/or files:

    We had the fairest view of Ktaadn.... The summit ... had a singularly flat, table-land appearance, like a short highway, where a demigod might be let down to take a turn or two in an afternoon, to settle his dinner.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

    But some who this blithe mood present,
    As on in lightsome files they fare,
    Shall die experienced ere three days be spent—
    Perish, enlightened by the vollied glare;
    Or shame survive, and, like to adamant,
    Thy after shock, Manassas, share.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)
