- This is the last Deep Space Nine episode to feature the Starfleet Uniforms first introduced in season 1. From the following episode onwards the crew would wear the much darker uniforms introduced in Star Trek: First Contact.
- Quark asks Odo if he would care for a game of Fizzbin, saying it is an easy game to learn. In the original series episode "A Piece of the Action" Captain Kirk, while being held captive on Sigma Iotia II, spontaneously invents a confusing card game to distract the henchmen guarding himself, Spock, and McCoy. He names the game Fizzbin.
