(or the shorter sr -elvi
, as sr
and surfraw
are aliased to mean the same thing); to search using an elvi, use:
For example, to search Google for information on "Debian ports", using the "I'm feeling lucky" option:
sr google -l Debian portsOr, one could search Wikipedia for the "surfraw" article like this:
sr wikipedia surfrawSurfraw's commands can be shortened even further to require only the name of the elvi (i.e. wikipedia surfraw

or surfraw
prefixes; it does this by modifying the current shell's (e.g., bash's) startup files with the provided surfraw-update-path
command.

Famous quotes containing the word commands:
“Those commands of superiors which are contrary to our first duties are not to be obeyed.”
—Samuel Richardson (16891761)
“If writers were too wise, perhaps no books would get written at all. It might be better to ask yourself Why? afterwards than before. Anyway, the force from somewhere in Space which commands you to write in the first place, gives you no choice. You take up the pen when you are told, and write what is commanded. There is no agony like bearing an untold story inside you.”
—Zora Neale Hurston (18911960)
“They went to him and woke him up, shouting, Master, Master, we are perishing! And he woke up and rebuked the wind and the raging waves; they ceased, and there was a calm. He said to them, Where is your faith? They were afraid and amazed, and said to one another, Who then is this, that he commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him?”
—Bible: New Testament, Luke 8:24-25.
