Sunni View of Ali - Family Life

Family Life

He is also honored for marrying a daughter of Muhammed, an honor shared with Uthman who married two of the Prophet's daughters, thus called "The Holder of Two Lights". However, Ali is given distinction in this regard due to the high status accorded to Fatima being the sayyeda or lady of the women of paradise. It is also that she is the prophet's daughter, who is very important.

Narrated by al-Bukhari, 3671.

Famous quotes containing the words family and/or life:

It is as when a migrating army of mice girdles a forest of pines. The chopper fells trees from the same motive that the mouse gnaws them,—to get his living. You tell me that he has a more interesting family than the mouse. That is as it happens.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

At this very moment,... the most frightful horrors are taking place in every corner of the world. People are being crushed, slashed, disembowelled, mangled; their dead bodies rot and their eyes decay with the rest. Screams of pain and fear go pulsing through the air at the rate of eleven hundred feet per second. After travelling for three seconds they are perfectly inaudible. These are distressing facts; but do we enjoy life any the less because of them? Most certainly we do not.
    Aldous Huxley (1894–1963)
