Student Veterans of America - Programs & Initiatives

Programs & Initiatives

In 2011, SVA welcomed its 500th chapter and continues to grow in the 50 states and 2 foreign countries it operates within. On a national level, Student Veterans of America works to strengthen the network of opportunities Now, SVA is diversifying our set of programs for quality assurance and maximum impact. Our scholarship programs focus on meeting the needs of 21st century demands by providing financial support to student veterans majoring in science, technology, mathematics, and engineering. With the decline in the economy and value of internships increasing, SVA has also launched the internship support program to provide financial incentives to student veterans accepting unpaid internships. We understand the value of internships and want to ensure veterans aren't deterred by a lack of financial support.

Famous quotes containing the words programs and/or initiatives:

There is a delicate balance of putting yourself last and not being a doormat and thinking of yourself first and not coming off as selfish, arrogant, or bossy. We spend the majority of our lives attempting to perfect this balance. When we are successful, we have many close, healthy relationships. When we are unsuccessful, we suffer the natural consequences of damaged and sometimes broken relationships. Children are just beginning their journey on this important life lesson.
—Cindy L. Teachey. “Building Lifelong Relationships—School Age Programs at Work,” Child Care Exchange (January 1994)

It is well known, that the best productions of the best human intellects, are generally regarded by those intellects as mere immature freshman exercises, wholly worthless in themselves, except as initiatives for entering the great University of God after death.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)
