Strawberry Fair

Strawberry Fair is a local festival of music, entertainments, arts and crafts. which has been held in Cambridge, England, since 1974. The fair is held on Midsummer Common on the first Saturday in June. It is open to the public and free and totally independent from any council-run events. It was announced on 19 March 2010 that the 2010 Strawberry Fair had been cancelled by the organisers due to 'continuing hostility' from Cambridgeshire Police, who had appealed against Cambridge City Council's decision to grant the Fair a license for 2010.

Famous quotes containing the words strawberry and/or fair:

The strawberry grows underneath the nettle,
And wholesome berries thrive and ripen best
Neighbored by fruit of baser quality.
    William Shakespeare (1564–1616)

Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away; for now the winter is past, the rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; the time of singing has come, and the voice of the turtledove is heard in our land. The fig tree puts forth its figs, and the vines are in blossom; they give forth fragrance. Arise, my love, my fair one, and come away.
Bible: Hebrew, Song of Solomon 2:10-13.
