Stevie Ray Vaughan's Musical Instruments - Red

Red

In late 1983, Vaughan purchased a 1962 sunburst Fender Stratocaster from Charley's Guitar Shop, though he had it repainted by Fender in fiesta red as a custom color option, and simply named the guitar "Red." The guitar remained stock until 1986, when a left-handed neck was installed and "SRV" stickers were applied to the pickguard. At the same time, the neck on "Number One" was unable to withstand more re-fret jobs, replacing it with the original neck from "Red." The next year, following a concert at the Garden State Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey, a stanchion fell onto Vaughan's rack of guitars, splitting the neck from "Red" that was installed on "Number One." The neck was replaced the next night.

Stevie usually used this guitar on "Lookin' Out the Window", and sometimes "Love Struck Baby", and "Willie The Wimp".

Famous quotes containing the word red:

    The remnant of Indians thereabout—all but exterminated in their recent and final war with regular white troops, a war waged by the Red Men for their native soil and natural rights—had been coerced into the occupancy of wilds not far beyond the Mississippi.
    Herman Melville (1819–1891)

    I died before bedtime came
    But my womb was bellowing
    And I felt with my bare fall
    A blazing red harsh head tear up
    And the dear floods of his hair.
    Dylan Thomas (1914–1953)

    O My Luve’s like a red, red rose,
    That’s newly sprung in June;
    O My Luve’s like the melodie
    That’s sweetly played in tune.
    Robert Burns (1759–1796)
