Involvement in "Tea Party" Protests
When Seattle blogger and conservative activist Keli Carender organized the first Tea Party protest rally in February 2009, Carender contacted Beren, who promoted the event on his blog four days before the protest and spoke at the rally.
On August 12, 2009, when McDermott was scheduled to speak on healthcare to a Democratic Party meeting in Seattle, Beren initiated a call for a Tea Party protest outside the meeting. Beren had addressed an open letter to President Barack Obama that concludes: "Your socialized medicine plan would restrict our liberty, increase government control over our lives...and contradict some already existing rights."
Speaking at a Seattle rally which was part of the April 15, 2009 Tea Party protests, Beren criticized politicians of both parties, including Arlen Specter, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid.

Famous quotes containing the words involvement in, involvement, tea and/or party:
“The glorious dream of full father involvement in infant care will not become a widespread reality overnight. But it can happen, and it eventually will happen,... A lot of progress may take place in a short period of time if we just lighten up, step back, and give the guys a decent chance.”
—Michael K. Meyerhoff (20th century)
“It may be tempting to focus on the fact that, even among those who support equality, mens involvement as fathers remains a far distance from what most women want and most children need. Yet it is also important to acknowledge how far and how fast many men have moved towards a pattern that not long ago virtually all men considered anathema.”
—Katherine Gerson (20th century)
“Poor Henry, hes spending eternity wandering round and round a stately park and the fence is just too high for him to peep over and theyre having tea just too far away for him to hear what the countess is saying.”
—W. Somerset Maugham (18741966)
“No political party can ever make prohibition effective. A political party implies an adverse, an opposing, political party. To enforce criminal statutes implies substantial unanimity in the community. This is the result of the jury system. Hence the futility of party prohibition.”
—Rutherford Birchard Hayes (18221893)
