St. Louis Assembly Plant

St. Louis Assembly Plant was an automobile factory owned by Ford Motor Company in Hazelwood, Missouri. In 2006, it was idled as part of Ford's "The Way Forward" plan. As of June 2010, Ford has no plans to reopen the facility. Since then, nearly all of the plant has been demolished.

Famous quotes containing the words plant, assembly and/or louis:

You have waited, you always wait, you dumb, beautiful ministers,
We receive you with free sense at last, and are insatiate
    hence-forward,
Not you any more shall be able to foil us, or withhold yourselves
    from us,
We use you, and do not cast you aside—we plant you permanently within us,
We fathom you not—we love you—there is perfection in you also,
You furnish your parts, toward eternity,
Great or small, you furnish your parts toward the soul.
    Walt Whitman (1819–1892)

There is a sacred horror about everything grand. It is easy to admire mediocrity and hills; but whatever is too lofty, a genius as well as a mountain, an assembly as well as a masterpiece, seen too near, is appalling.
    Victor Hugo (1802–1885)

The cruellest lies are often told in silence. A man may have sat in a room for hours and not opened his mouth, and yet come out of that room a disloyal friend or a vile calumniator.
    —Robert Louis Stevenson (1850–1894)
