Soldier (1998 American Film) - Release in The United Kingdom

Release in The United Kingdom

Soldier was one of a number of high profile Warner Bros. releases in the late nineties and mid-2000s to be released direct to video in the United Kingdom after underperforming at the box office Stateside. While the film shares this dubious honour with titles such as Chill Factor ($34 Million) and Bait ($51 million), at $60 million Soldier was for a number of years the most expensive film of all time to be relegated to a video-only release, up until the releases of 3000 Miles to Graceland in 2001 ($62 million) and Ballistic: Ecks vs. Sever ($70 million) in 2002.

Famous quotes containing the words release in, release, united and/or kingdom:

The near touch of death may be a release into life; if only it will break the egoistic will, and release that other flow.
    —D.H. (David Herbert)

As nature requires whirlwinds and cyclones to release its excessive force in a violent revolt against its own existence, so the spirit requires a demonic human being from time to time whose excessive strength rebels against the community of thought and the monotony of morality ... only by looking at those beyond its limits does humanity come to know its own utmost limits.
    Stefan Zweig (18811942)

Greece is a sort of American vassal; the Netherlands is the country of American bases that grow like tulip bulbs; Cuba is the main sugar plantation of the American monopolies; Turkey is prepared to kow-tow before any United States pro-consul and Canada is the boring second fiddle in the American symphony.
    Andrei Andreyevich Gromyko (1909–1989)

Then he looked up at his disciples and said: Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled.
Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.
Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man.
    Bible: New Testament, Luke 6:20-22.
