The department runs highly regarded undergraduate bachelor of science programs in Decision Science, Policy and Management, and International Relations and Politics as well as a minor in Policy and Management. Further, SDS is a partner in various interdisciplinary undergraduate programs such as the Sociology minor, Environmental Policy program, and the Davis Quantitative Social Science Scholars program. At the master's degree level, SDS partners with several other colleges and departments for the Master of Information Technology Strategy program and the Engineering and Technology Innovation Management program. The graduate PhD program allows doctoral students options in Social and Decision Sciences, Behavioral Decision Research (BDR), Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Technological Change (SETchange), as well as a joint PhD in Behavioral Decision Research and Psychology with the Department of Psychology. All students are trained in policy analysis and research methods. The information systems program at Carnegie Mellon is closely associated with the SDS department due to the program being spun off from the department in the late 1990s.

Famous quotes containing the word education:

... the whole tenour of female education ... tends to render the best disposed romantic and inconstant; and the remainder vain and mean.
    Mary Wollstonecraft (1759–1797)

Until we devise means of discovering workers who are temperamentally irked by monotony it will be well to take for granted that the majority of human beings cannot safely be regimented at work without relief in the form of education and recreation and pleasant surroundings.
    Mary Barnett Gilson (1877–?)

“We’ll encounter opposition, won’t we, if we give women the same education that we give to men,” Socrates says to Galucon. “For then we’d have to let women ... exercise in the company of men. And we know how ridiculous that would seem.” ... Convention and habit are women’s enemies here, and reason their ally.
    Martha Nussbaum (b. 1947)
