Smart File System - History

History

SFS is a free filesystem written in C originally created in 1998 by John Hendrikx. After the original author left the Amiga scene in 2000, the sources for SFS were released and its development continued by Ralph Schmidt in MorphOS.

Since May 2005 the SFS source code is available under the LGPL license. Its development has now forked; as well as the original Amiga version, there are now versions for MorphOS, AROS, AmigaOS 3, and a version for AmigaOS 4, which have different feature sets but remain compatible to each other. In addition, there is a driver for Linux to read Amiga SFS volumes.

Famous quotes containing the word history:

At present cats have more purchasing power and influence than the poor of this planet. Accidents of geography and colonial history should no longer determine who gets the fish.
    Derek Wall (b. 1965)

They are a sort of post-house,where the Fates
Change horses, making history change its tune,
Then spur away o’er empires and o’er states,
Leaving at last not much besides chronology,
    Excepting the post-obits of theology.
    George Gordon Noel Byron (1788–1824)

History is the present. That’s why every generation writes it anew. But what most people think of as history is its end product, myth.
    —E.L. (Edgar Lawrence)
