Smart City Malta - Pros and Cons

Pros and Cons

Pros - It will bring thousands of jobs to Malta, with estimations of employing up to 10,000 people, which may not seem that much, but in ratio with the countries overall population it is one massive amount, similar to the UK offering up 300,000 jobs. It will certainly benefit Malta's economy somewhat, and will create more highly skilled and paid jobs that Malta hasn't had in the past. The Maltese government also hopes that this will get Malta much worldwide attention and even make Smart City a global capital for IT.

Cons - Many Maltese people have begun to oppose Smart City as some feel it will hurt the ancient Maltese culture and perhaps not benefit the economy as much as hoped, due to the fact that Dubai has a large stake in Smart City.

Famous quotes related to pros and cons:

Quite generally, the familiar, just because it is familiar, is not cognitively understood. The commonest way in which we deceive either ourselves or others about understanding is by assuming something as familiar, and accepting it on that account; with all its pros and cons, such knowing never gets anywhere, and it knows not why.... The analysis of an idea, as it used to be carried out, was, in fact, nothing else than ridding it of the form in which it had become familiar.
    Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel (1770–1831)
