Si Stebbins - Order of Stack

Order of Stack

Each card in a Si Stebbins stack alternates suit in the CHaSeD order: (Clubs Hearts Spades Diamonds) and has a numerical value three greater than the proceeding card. The Aces are given the numerical value of 1 and the Jack, Queen, and King of each suit are given the values of 11, 12, and 13 respectively.

For instance, in a deck in Si Stebbins order, the Ace of Clubs is followed by the Four of Hearts, Seven of Spades, Ten of Diamonds, and King of Clubs.

The deck stack is considered cyclic as any card in the deck can be used to determine the value and position of any other card in the deck. The bottom card of the deck is in order with the top card of the deck making the order of cards an endlessly repeating cycle. A deck in Si Stebbins order can be cut any number of times without disturbing the order.

Famous quotes containing the words order and/or stack:

He had discovered a great law of human action, without knowing it—namely, that in order to make a man or a boy covet a thing, it is only necessary to make the thing difficult to attain. If he had been a great and wise philosopher, like the writer of this book, he would now have comprehended that Work consists of whatever a body is obliged to do and that Play consists of whatever a body is not obliged to do.
Mark Twain [Samuel Langhorne Clemens] (1835–1910)

“Farewell to barn and stack and tree,
    Farewell to Severn shore.
Terence, look your last at me,
For I come home no more.
    —A.E. (Alfred Edward)
