Shower gel or shower cream, also known as bodywash, is the general term for a substance similar to liquid soap, which is used for cleaning the body. Almost all commercial shower gels have a pleasing scent and do not contain any saponified oil however, instead being products of petroleum. Shower gel/bodywash is an emulsion of water and detergent base with added fragrance used as a skin cleansing agent in the shower or bath. It has chemical advantages over soap because it is milder at cleansing and less irritating to the skin, lathers better in hard water areas and does not leave a mineral residue on the skin or in the bathtub after usage. Some popular brands include Fa, Palmolive, Axe (also known as Lynx in the UK & Ireland), Radox, Nivea, Johnson, Senses, Adidas, Umbro, Old Spice, Imperial Leather and Right Guard.

Famous quotes containing the word shower:
“The woman ... turned her melancholy tone into a scolding one. She was not very young, and the wrinkles in her face were filled with drops of water which had fallen from her eyes, which, with the yellowness of her complexion, made a figure not unlike a field in the decline of the year, when the harvest is gathered in and a smart shower of rain has filled the furrows with water. Her voice was so shrill that they all jumped into the coach as fast as they could and drove from the door.”
