Sight Program
There are 39 million people around the world who are blind. 80% could see again if they only had access to an eye doctor. Over the past 30 years, Seva has helped nearly 3 million people to regain their eyesight. Most preventable blindness is caused by cataract, a 15 minute surgery can restore vision. Seva has reduced the cost of cataract surgery to just $50. Programs build capacity as well as provide direct services in places like Tibet, Nepal, Cambodia, Bangladesh, and throughout Africa.

Famous quotes containing the words sight and/or program:
“We had hardly got out of the streets of Bangor before I began to be exhilarated by the sight of the wild fir and spruce tops, and those of other primitive evergreens, peering through the mist in the horizon. It was like the sight and odor of cake to a schoolboy.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
“Worn down by the hoofs of millions of half-wild Texas cattle driven along it to the railheads in Kansas, the trail was a bare, brown, dusty strip hundreds of miles long, lined with the bleaching bones of longhorns and cow ponies. Here and there a broken-down chuck wagon or a small mound marking the grave of some cowhand buried by his partners on the lone prairie gave evidence to the hardships of the journey.”
—For the State of Kansas, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
