  • As an alternative to suspending constitutional rights, Franz Josef, Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary, ordered the dissolution of the Abgeordnetenhaus, the elected body of the Reichsrat, Austria's parliament. The legislators were divided along ethnic lines between German and Slavic parties. Following elections in December, the Reichsrath was reconstituted under premier Ernst von Koerber. The Diet of Hungary, was not affected by the order.
