Greater Semarang
Suburbanization has occurred to a great extent in Java, and Semarang is no exception. Greater Semarang was initially defined as Semarang, Semarang Regency, the newly carved Salatiga city, Kendal Regency, and Demak Regency. The more recent official definition (all of which have acronmys) is called Kedungsapur, an acronym for "Ke"ndal+"D"emak+"Ung"aran+"Sa"latiga+"Pur"wodadi. This includes Ungaran (already counted as Semarang Regency) and Purwodadi, Grobogan Regency. It is Indonesia's 4th largest metropolitan area, after Greater Jakarta, Gerbangkertosusila (Surabaya), and Bandung Metropolitan Area.

Famous quotes containing the word greater:
“Our thoughts could not revert to any greater or wiser or better man with whom to contrast him, for he, then and there, was above them all. The man this country was about to hang appeared the greatest and best in it.”
—Henry David Thoreau (18171862)
