Famous quotes containing the words green, hills and/or integrity:
“She never told her love,
But let concealment, like a worm i’ the bud
Feed on her damask cheek. She pined in thought,
And with a green and yellow melancholy
She sat like patience on a monument,
Smiling at grief. Was not this love indeed?”
—William Shakespeare (1564–1616)
“The hills in their recumbent postures
Look into the silent lake....”
—Philip Larkin (1922–1986)
“I expect a time when, or rather an integrity by which, a man will get his coat as honestly and as perfectly fitting as a tree its bark. Now our garments are typical of our conformity to the ways of the world, i.e., of the devil, and to some extent react on us and poison us, like that shirt which Hercules put on.”
—Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)
