On 19 December 2011, Seagate finished its acquisition of Samsung's Hard Disk Drive business. The transactions and agreements together was approximately USD 1.4 billion which includes 45,239,490 Seagate Ordinary Shares and the remaining was said to be closed in cash.
On 23 May 2012, Seagate announced it would acquire the French-American storage enclosure maker LaCie for $186 million.
