Sea Containers House - Cultural Influence

Cultural Influence

In October 2009, three-piece music band Gyratory System released the album The Sound-Board Breathes with a track named Sea Containers House. Alex Miller of The Guardian, awarding it 'single of the week' on 19 September 2009, stated: 'Maybe when the industry catches up with them and 2011 is rammed with music that sounds like a neurotic death rave of farting Klangers I'll resent them, but until then this is what I'm all about. Famous quotes containing the words cultural and/or influence:

The beginning of Canadian cultural nationalism was not “Am I really that oppressed?” but “Am I really that boring?”
    Margaret Atwood (b. 1939)

The question of place and climate is most closely related to the question of nutrition. Nobody is free to live everywhere; and whoever has to solve great problems that challenge all his strength actually has a very restricted choice in this matter. The influence of climate on our metabolism, its retardation, its acceleration, goes so far that a mistaken choice of place and climate can not only estrange a man from his task but can actually keep it from him: he never gets to see it.
    Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900)
