Sailor (TV Series) - Music

Music

The theme song was "Sailing" by Rod Stewart. The DVD release uses a different version due to copyright issues. Another memorable sequence in the documentary featured footage of Phantom and Buccaneer aircraft at Vieques weapons range with Shine on You Crazy Diamond by Pink Floyd playing in the background appeared in the original TV broadcast. The DVD substitutes a smooth jazz composition.

Famous quotes containing the word music:

    As if, as if, as if the disparate halves
    Of things were waiting in a betrothal known
    To none, awaiting espousal to the sound
    Of right joining, a music of ideas, the burning
    And breeding and bearing birth of harmony,
    The final relation, the marriage of the rest.
    Wallace Stevens (1879–1955)

    Slow, slow, fresh fount, keep time with my salt tears;
    Yet slower yet, oh faintly gentle springs:
    List to the heavy part the music bears,
    “Woe weeps out her division when she sings.”
    Droop herbs and flowers;
    Fall grief in showers;
    “Our beauties are not ours”:
    Oh, I could still,
    Like melting snow upon some craggy hill,
    Drop, drop, drop, drop,
    Since nature’s pride is, now, a withered daffodil.
    Ben Jonson (1572–1637)

    Great music is that which penetrates the ear with facility and leaves the memory with difficulty. Magical music never leaves the memory.
    Thomas Beecham (1879–1961)
