Safipur is a town and a Nagar Panchayat in Unnao district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Safipur is one of the cultured, civilized and growing town. Tehsil Safipur was at the time of freedom of the country had three leading lawyers -Mohammad Asghar of village Salindh (MA,LLB,LT from Aligarh University), Mahabir Asthana, and all India 100 yards sprinter Nabi Haider who won the championship in Lahore. Asghar's grand daughter and Hanif's niece Kopal Kopal is a famous Fashion Designer in New York worked for Converse and Polo Ralph Lauren.
The town's name is derived from the name of a Muslim Sufi saint Makhdum Sah Safi. Hindus and Muslims live in harmony, though during last Ayodhya masjid destruction turmoil, a rift was started by some fundamentalist but none succeeded.Today the town is on threshold of development.
