Culture

Rourkela has two recreation parks: 1) Indira Gandhi Park in front of the Gayatri Mandir hillock. This zoo is the second largest in the Orissa, with 42 acres of land. It has gardens with rare varieties of flowers, a grass meadow, a doll museum, a miniature zoo and an aquarium. The gardens include Japanese garden, rose garden and a fountain garden.

The zoo has a train which goes around the park. Apart from this, there is a big tower in the park, atop from which one could get a breathtaking view of the city.

2) Jubilee Park abutting Sector-8 it also has deer park.

Famous quotes containing the word culture:

Anthropologists have found that around the world whatever is considered “men’s work” is almost universally given higher status than “women’s work.” If in one culture it is men who build houses and women who make baskets, then that culture will see house-building as more important. In another culture, perhaps right next door, the reverse may be true, and basket- weaving will have higher social status than house-building.
—Mary Stewart Van Leeuwen. Excerpted from, Gender Grace: Love, Work, and Parenting in a Changing World (1990)

As the end of the century approaches, all our culture is like the culture of flies at the beginning of winter. Having lost their agility, dreamy and demented, they turn slowly about the window in the first icy mists of morning. They give themselves a last wash and brush-up, their ocellated eyes roll, and they fall down the curtains.
    Jean Baudrillard (b. 1929)

The hatred of the youth culture for adult society is not a disinterested judgment but a terror-ridden refusal to be hooked into the, if you will, ecological chain of breathing, growing, and dying. It is the demand, in other words, to remain children.
    Midge Decter (b. 1927)
