Famous quotes containing the word roof:
“Does the road wind uphill all the way?
Yes, to the very end.
Will the days journey take the whole long day?
From morn to night, my friend.
But is there for the night a resting-place?
A roof for when the slow, dark hours begin,”
—Christina Georgina Rossetti (18301894)
“Come into animal presence.
No man is so guileless as
the serpent. The lonely white
rabbit on the roof is a star
twitching its ears at the rain.”
—Denise Levertov (b. 1923)
“Dont want no money from you Ethan, no money, Marty. Just a roof over old Mose head and a rocking chair by the fire, my own rocking chair by the fire.”
—Frank S. Nugent (19081965)
