Roma Street Railway Station
Roma Street is a major railway station in the Brisbane central business district, the state capital of Queensland, Australia. It was Brisbane's first railway station, opening in 1876. Roma Street is part of the Queensland Rail City network, in Zone 1 of the TransLink integrated public transport system, and is the Brisbane terminus for most Queensland long-distance trains.
The station has a total of ten platforms. Platform 10 is for long-distance train travel within Queensland (including the Tilt Train). Platforms 1 and 2 make up the Roma Street Busway Station — while the other side of platform 2 is used for long-distance train travel, by the CountryLink XPT train, to Sydney. The remainder of the platforms serve the Citytrain suburban network. All Citytrain services, including the Airtrain, stop at Roma Street.
Pedestrian access to the station is through the ground floor entrance of the Brisbane Transit Centre, a walkway from the end of George Street, or through the Roma Street Parkland.

Famous quotes containing the words street, railway and/or station:
“I marched in with the men afoot; a gallant show they made as they marched up High Street to the depot. Lucy and Mother Webb remained several hours until we left. I saw them watching me as I stood on the platform at the rear of the last car as long as they could see me. Their eyes swam. I kept my emotion under control enough not to melt into tears.”
—Rutherford Birchard Hayes (18221893)
“Her personality had an architectonic quality; I think of her when I see some of the great London railway termini, especially St. Pancras, with its soot and turrets, and she overshadowed her own daughters, whom she did not understandmy mother, who liked things to be nice; my dotty aunt. But my mother had not the strength to put even some physical distance between them, let alone keep the old monster at emotional arms length.”
—Angela Carter (19401992)
“Say first, of God above, or Man below,
What can we reason, but from what we know?
Of Man what see we, but his station here,
From which to reason, or to which refer?
Thro worlds unnumberd tho the God be known,
Tis ours to trace him only in our own.
”
—Alexander Pope (16881744)
