Ricky Ray Rector - Execution

Execution

Rector was subject to a unique overlap of controversies in 1992 during his execution in Arkansas. An oft-cited example of his mental insufficiency is his decision to save the dessert from his last meal for after his execution. Famous quotes containing the word execution:

If I were asked to chose between execution and life in prison I would, of course, chose the latter. It’s better to live somehow than not at all.
    Anton Pavlovich Chekhov (1860–1904)

Those who govern, having much business on their hands, do not generally like to take the trouble of considering and carrying into execution new projects. The best public measures are therefore seldom adopted from previous wisdom, but forced by the occasion.
    Benjamin Franklin (1706–1790)

If Germany is to become a colonising power, all I say is, “God speed her!” She becomes our ally and partner in the execution of the great purposes of Providence for the advantage of mankind.
    —W.E. (William Ewart)
