Riyat (ਰਾਇਤ in Gurmukhi, Rayet & राइत in Devnagri) is a surname and a Ramgarhia gotra in Punjab, India. They are followers of the Sikh religion inhabiting in the Doaba region of Punjab. Rayat, Rayet, Rayit, Riyat and Riayet are actually same despite of different spellings. This surname is not very common outside Punjab, but many Rayets have moved to different parts of the world, leading a prosperous and successful life.
