Propene - Storage & Handling

Storage & Handling

Since propylene is volatile and flammable, precautions must be taken to avoid fire hazards in the handling of the gas. If propylene is loaded to any equipment capable of causing ignition, such equipment should be shut down while loading, unloading, connecting or disconnecting. Propylene is usually stored as liquid under pressure, although it is also possible to store it safely as gas at ambient temperature in approved containers.

Famous quotes containing the words storage and/or handling:

Many of our houses, both public and private, with their almost innumerable apartments, their huge halls and their cellars for the storage of wines and other munitions of peace, appear to me extravagantly large for their inhabitants. They are so vast and magnificent that the latter seem to be only vermin which infest them.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

For a novel addressed by a man to men and women of full age; which attempts to deal unaffectedly with the fret and fever, derision and disaster, that may press in the wake of the strongest passion known to humanity; to tell, without a mincing of words, of a deadly war waged between flesh and spirit; and to point the tragedy of unfulfilled aims, I am not aware that there is anything in the handling to which exception can be taken.
    Thomas Hardy (1840–1928)
