Posse Scholars Pre-Collegiate Training Program

For eight months before they begin their college career, Posse Scholars attend a weekly Pre-Collegiate Training Program. The goal of this training program is to prepare Posse Scholars for as many as possible of the academic, social, and personal challenges they may face in their college career.

Famous quotes containing the words posse, scholars, training and/or program:

Peering, I heard the hooves come down the hill.
The posse passed, twelve horse; the leader’s face
Was worn as limestone on an ancient sill.
    Allen Tate (1899–1979)

Scholars and artists thrown together are often annoyed at the puzzle of where they differ. Both work from knowledge; but I suspect they differ most importantly in the way their knowledge is come by. Scholars get theirs with conscientious thoroughness along projected lines of logic; poets theirs cavalierly and as it happens in and out of books. They stick to nothing deliberately, but let what will stick to them like burrs where they walk in the fields.
    Robert Frost (1874–1963)

It’s [motherhood] the biggest on-the-job- training program in existence today.
    Erma Bombeck (20th century)

“Well, well,” he said to himself, “you are not in Belgium; let us begin our apprenticeship in earnest, and so long as we are in the woods, howl heartily with the wolves.”
—For the State of Nebraska, U.S. public relief program (1935-1943)
