Peter Bone - Career

Career

He qualified as a chartered accountant (FCA) in 1977. His Linked-in profile quotes his UK company directorships: Varitext Displays PLC, liquidated by creditors in 1991, the political campaign company C.N.K Alliance, Palm Travel (West) Ltd that was liquidated by creditors in 2002 owing £1,359,087 and A.J.W.B. Travel Ltd. The term "PLC" need not be significant in company names; Varitext's link shows no record of a large company.

In 1995 Bone was described as Britain's "meanest boss" by the Daily Mirror when he defended paying a 17-year-old trainee at Palm Travel (West) 87p an hour. Bone reports that he is a former member of the "Southern Airport Management Committee" which is not known to Google in other contexts.

    Oscar Wilde (1854–1900)

My ambition in life: to become successful enough to resume my career as a neurasthenic.
    Mason Cooley (b. 1927)

He was at a starting point which makes many a man’s career a fine subject for betting, if there were any gentlemen given to that amusement who could appreciate the complicated probabilities of an arduous purpose, with all the possible thwartings and furtherings of circumstance, all the niceties of inward balance, by which a man swings and makes his point or else is carried headlong.
George Eliot [Mary Ann (or Marian)
