Forename
Etymologically, it derives from the name of Saint Joseph, the reputed father of Jesus, for whom the title padre putativo or PP is sometimes applied, so that Pepe and José may be used in different connotations. The Italian form of Joseph is Giuseppe and its pet form may be similarly expressed as Beppe, Peppe or Peppino.
