Pathway Publishing Company

Pathway Publishing Company of Aylmer, Ontario, Canada, and Lagrange, Indiana was founded in the mid-1960s as a major publisher of Amish-written material. They are the publisher of choice of Old Order Mennonites as well, espousing more traditional views and simple living and conservative Anabaptist theology.

Pathway Publishers publishes and sells school text books (readers), scholarly research and translations, tracts, booklets, and books in English and German. They also publish a number of periodicals of interest to families and schools including the Blackboard Bulletin, Young Companion, and Family Life.

Ideologically this group shares many similar beliefs with Conservative Mennonites though differing in the use of technology like computers and electricity and not promoting Sunday Schools or Revival Meetings. They identify more with the values of the Old Order groups, but share common core values or distinctives with other Anabaptist groups. In recent years they have also shared in joint historical/scholarly publishing efforts with Eastern Mennonite Publications.

Famous quotes containing the words pathway, publishing and/or company:

    And open field, through which the pathway wound,
    And homeward led my steps. Magnificent
    The morning rose, in memorable pomp,
    Glorious as e’er I had beheld—in front,
    The sea lay laughing at a distance; near,
    The solid mountains shone, bright as the clouds,
    Grain-tinctured, drenched in empyrean light;
    William Wordsworth (1770–1850)

    While you continue to grow fatter and richer publishing your nauseating confectionery, I shall become a mole, digging here, rooting there, stirring up the whole rotten mess where life is hard, raw and ugly.
    Norman Reilly Raine (1895–1971)

    I shall never send for a priest or recite an Act of Contrition in my last moments. I do not mind if I lose my soul for all eternity. If the kind of God exists Who would damn me for not working out a deal with Him, then that is unfortunate. I should not care to spend eternity in the company of such a person.
    Mary McCarthy (1912–1989)
