Orthodox Objections

The halakhic opinions supporting a partnership minyan and permitting an expanded role for women are developments on the far left of Modern Orthodox Judaism that currently represent the views of a very small number of Modern Orthodox rabbis, and have not been accepted by any major Orthodox organizations or rabbinical authorities. A number of objections have been raised to various aspects of partnership minyanim, and to the view that their practices are not consistent with halakha (Jewish law). Critics have argued that their claims to be a practice within Orthodox Judaism are illegitimate.

Famous quotes containing the words orthodox and/or objections:

The gloomy theology of the orthodox—the Calvinists—I do not, I cannot believe. Many of the notions—nay, most of the notions—which orthodox people have of the divinity of the Bible, I disbelieve. I am so nearly infidel in all my views, that too, in spite of my wishes, that none but the most liberal doctrines can command my assent.
    Rutherford Birchard Hayes (1822–1893)

Miss Western: Tell me, child, what objections can you have to the young gentleman?
Sophie: A very solid objection, in my opinion. I hate him.
Miss Western: Well, I have known many couples who have entirely disliked each other, lead very comfortable, genteel lives.
    John Osborne (1929–1994)
