Pacific University - Student Life

Student Life

Pacific's newspaper, The Pacific Index, was first published in 1893. The next year an annual yearbook began as the Heart of Oak.

All of the Greek societies at Pacific University are "local", meaning that they are unique to the campus.

Famous quotes containing the words student and/or life:

The student may read Homer or Æschylus in the Greek without danger of dissipation or luxuriousness, for it implies that he in some measure emulate their heroes, and consecrate morning hours to their pages.
    Henry David Thoreau (1817–1862)

One cannot be a good historian of the outward, visible world without giving some thought to the hidden, private life of ordinary people; and on the other hand one cannot be a good historian of this inner life without taking into account outward events where these are relevant. They are two orders of fact which reflect each other, which are always linked and which sometimes provoke each other.
    Victor Hugo (1802–1885)
