Outline of Green Politics - Policy Issues

Policy Issues

A few issues affect most of the green parties around the world, and can often inhibit global cooperation. Some affect structure, and others affect policy:

  • Anti-nuclear
  • Bioregionalism
  • Biosafety
  • Biosecurity
  • Electoral reform
  • Fundamentalism vs. Realism
  • Greenwashing
  • Indigenous peoples
  • Land reform
  • Natural capitalism
  • Primate extinction
  • Rainforest destruction
  • Safe trade

On matters of ecology, extinction, biosafety, biosecurity, safe trade and health security, "Greens" generally agree. There are very substantial policy differences between and among Green Parties in various countries and cultures, and a continuing debate about the degree to which natural ecology and human needs align. Agreement on particular issues is often reached using a consensus decision making process.

Famous quotes containing the words policy and/or issues:

Letting a hundred flowers blossom and a hundred schools of thought contend is the policy for promoting the progress of the arts and the sciences and a flourishing culture in our land.
    Mao Zedong (1893–1976)

The “universal moments” of child rearing are in fact nothing less than a confrontation with the most basic problems of living in society: a facing through one’s children of all the conflicts inherent in human relationships, a clarification of issues that were unresolved in one’s own growing up. The experience of child rearing not only can strengthen one as an individual but also presents the opportunity to shape human relationships of the future.
    Elaine Heffner (20th century)
