Oleksander Hrekov was married Natalia Ivanivna Kabat in 1905, a daughter of Hofmeister of the Higher Court, secret adviser, and senator. His wife family was of the Hungarian descent. He had a son Oleh (1914–1942) and a daughter Yelyzaveta (1906-?).

Hrekov had two sisters Anna and Yulia as well as three brothers: Kostiantyn - attorney, Hryhoriy - military officer, and Mykola - engineer-railway specialist.
