Oksana Chusovitina - Skills

Skills

In the floor exercise, Chusovitina is credited as the first woman to successfully perform a layout-full-out on floor. A vault specialist, she is the only top female vaulter in the world who does not perform Yurchenko style vaults. Instead, she competes only front handspring entry and Tsukahara-family vaults. Chusovitina is also credited with two bars moves in the Code of Points: a hop-full pirouette release and a full-out dismount.

Famous quotes containing the word skills:

The invention of photography provided a radically new picture-making process—a process based not on synthesis but on selection. The difference was a basic one. Paintings were made—constructed from a storehouse of traditional schemes and skills and attitudes—but photographs, as the man on the street put, were taken.
    Jean Szarkowski (b. 1925)

Some parents were awful back then and are awful still. The process of raising you didn’t turn them into grown-ups. Parents who were clearly imperfect can be helpful to you. As you were trying to grow up despite their fumbling efforts, you had to develop skills and tolerances other kids missed out on. Some of the strongest people I know grew up taking care of inept, invalid, or psychotic parents—but they know the parents weren’t normal, healthy, or whole.
    Frank Pittman (20th century)

I have great faith in ‘ordinary parents.’ Who has a child’s welfare more at heart than his ordinary parent? It’s been my experience that when parents are given the skills to be more helpful, not only are they able to use these skills, but they infuse them with a warmth and a style that is uniquely their own.
    Haim Ginott (20th century)
